General Information about The Birthday Registry:
What is The Birthday Registry?
 Our internet-based Birthday Registry allows you to add, edit, or delete, as many birthday wishes records as you need, in your own private account. Birthday wishes records can be created for both dogs and humans.
After your birthday wishes are entered into the registry database, the system will automatically wish that person or dog a Happy Birthday during the month in which it occurs. The happy birthday message is actually displayed on a separate view screen, called "Birthday Wishes". Note: Only the person that has the userid and password of your account, will be able to add or update your account. The general public will be able to view the birthday records in the month in which they occur; please see the Birthday wishes view screen.

What are the terms of usage?
 The system does Not come with any guarantees. The system is used on an as available, as is basis, with no warranty or guarantee of any kind. And by using this system, you agree to these terms. In addition, you agree Not to use this system to house highly personal or confidential information about yourself or others. Also, as stated in our basic terms of service, your email address is never sold or shared with any outside parties; it is only used to communicate with you regarding your account, and of course, to give you the ability to signin to your account.

Rules:
 Before posting a registry record for a human, please be sure to obtain that persons permission. Please do not post phone numbers, email addresses, street addresses, or other highly person information within a registry record. Please refrain from using vulgar language; remember: this is a family oriented website.
NO SPAM! Users who spam our site with unsolicited advertising, will be promptly deleted.



How do I Sign-up for a Birthday Registry Account?
Step 1::
Click on the "Sign-up for new account." link. Enter your firstname and lastname, in the fields provided.
Enter your email-address in the field provided. Note: Please use an email address that you own; do NOT use someone elses email address. You must also give us a valid email address, or you will not be able to complete the sign-up process, and the system will not work correctly. Now enter your desired password in the two fields provided. Note: password must be at least 5 characters long. Now click on the Sign - Up button.
If successful, the system will now respond with a "thank you" message that your userid has been added to the system.

Step 2::
Now go to your email box and open the "The Birthday Registry: Welcome" email from us. Look at the line that says: "Here is your account ACTIVATION code:xxxxxx". Where "xxxxxx" is your activation code. Using your mouse, highlight and copy the activation code. (Note: if you wish, you may just write it down on a piece of paper, but be careful, the activation code is case sensitive and may contain capital letters).
Now go back to the The Birthday Registry homepage (or just click on the link that is being displayed on the "thank you" screen.) Go down to the form that says: Activate New Userid:. In the field marked "Activation Code:", paste (or type) the activation code that you just got from the welcome email. Now enter your email address in the field marked: "Your email address:". Click on the " [Activate ]" button.
If successful, the system will respond with the following message: Thank you, (Name). Your userid has been successfully activated. Please return to the The Birthday Registry Homepage and Login to your new account.

** Important: Steps 1 and 2 are one-time events only.

Step 3::
Go to the The Birthday Registry homepage. Go down to the "Existing Users Login:" form. Enter your email address and your password (not the activation code). Click on the [ Login ] button.



Tutorial
Step 1 : Sign-up for your account. (See above section, How do I sign-up?)


Step 2 : Create your Profile record.
After you signin to your The Birthday Registry account, click on the Profile button.
Fill out the form and click on the Submit button. Note: The creation of your Profile record is generally a one-time event; however, you may change/edit your Profile record at any time.
Profile Record Form Fields:

Your Ezboard (Discussion Forum) Handle: If you are a user on our Discussion Forums, please enter your userid here; do not enter your password.

Registry Text:If you would like to create your very own title for your Birthday Registry screens, simply enter it here. For example: "Mary Joes Birthday Registry", or "The Jones Family Birthday Registry", etc.

Your Homepage or Website URL (optional): (Example format: http://www.mysite.com) If you have a website URL, enter it here.



Step 3 : Create at least one Folder record.
In order to create birthday wishes records, you must put them into a folder. You must create at least one folder for your records, but you can create as many as you need. Folders are created by clicking on the Folders button, then click on the "Add New Folder" button. We recommend that you create at least two folders, one for humans, the other for your pets. But it's really up to you.


Step 4: Create Birthday wishes in your registry:
To create The Birthday Registry records, simply click on the Birthday button. Then click on the Add New button. The system will then ask you if you would like to create a "Human" or "Pet" birthday wishes record. Simply click on the appropriate button.

Form record fields for the "Pet" record format:
Folder: Select your desired folder from the folder drop-down list.
Dog Name: (required) What is the name of your dog? For example, Rocky.
Dog Registerd Name: (100 characters max) (optional): Enter the long or registration name for your dog.
Owners Name: (50 characters max): (optional) It is not necessary to enter lastnames if you don't want to.
Date of Birth: (required) Select the month, day, and year of this dogs birth.
Gender: (required)Select male or female.
Breed of dog: (required) The default is golden retriever. Change if necessary.
Country of Birth: (required) Where was this dog born? If USA, enter USA followed by state abbreviaton or spell it out. Likewise for Canada.
Titles, Awards, Achievements, etc: (300 characters max) (optional):
Father (Sire): (This is the Name of this dog's Father) (optional):
Mother (Dam): (This is the Name of this dog's Mother): (optional)
Picture URL: (This is an optional picture URL for this dog) (optional) Please note format: http://www.yoursite.com/pictureofdog.jpg):
URL of this dogs website: (optional) (Please note the Format: http://www.mydog.com)
Record Status: (required) "a" for active, is the default.
Select desired icon that will appear next to this dogs name on the Birthday wishes page.(Enter the number that corresponds to the image that you want). (required)


Option Button Summary:
The following option buttons appear at the top and bottom of the The Birthday Registry screens:
Home: This button returns to the The Birthday Registry login or home page.

My Website: Goes to your website, if you have the url defined in your profile record.

Help: Invokes the help screen.

Profile: Brings up a form that allows you to add or edit your profile record.

Folders: Create and manage folders for your Birthday items.

Birthday: This button will displays all your records that are currently in your file. It will also allow the addition, edit, and delete of records from your file.

View: Brings up the Birthday Wishes reports screen.

User-Admin: With this button, you can change your The Birthday Registry password, or delete your The Birthday Registry account. Warning: when you delete your The Birthday Registry account, all of your records are deleted, and cannot be recovered!
