Our beloved Scout was my best friend. I was only ten when we got him, and it has been so hard to go on without him. He was my friend to play with when I came home from school, and my swimming buddy in the pool. Coming home late at night and not having a wagging tail to greet me in the kitchen is very hard…the house seems very lonely. When cancer invaded his hip in 2002, we made the difficult choice of having his left hind leg amputated. The surgery gave us another terrific year and a half, and he made a remarkable recovery. In November 2003, he developed severe arthritis in his spine and was not able to walk. We then came to the sad conclusion that Scout's wonderful life had come to an end. The hardest part is that you don’t realize how much you miss someone until they are gone. I love you Scout, and thank you for being a part of my life.
